Acupuncture and Functional Medicine

Bright natural dining room nook with vases plates and fruits on the table.

A few months ago when I had my yearly wellness checkup and everything was normal, I decided to run a more detailed panel because I didn’t feel quite right.

I found out that my numbers were out of range and I have some “pre” medical conditions.  Thankfully, Functional Medicine* and Acupuncture treat these issues.

Here are a few facts you may not know:

  • Most doctors are only concerned if your blood test values are drug treatable.

  • A test might not be ordered if Western Medicine doesn’t treat that problem.

  • Stress, lack of sleep, large meals without snacks, and too many carbs can have a negative affect on blood sugar. I thought eliminating sugar and processed grains was enough!

  • Hypoglycemia leading to insulin resistance can increase Triglycerides and LDL’s.

  • You can have thyroid problems if your TSH is in the normal range. Most doctors only order TSH unless you request more detail.

This summer,  I encourage you to call me for a complimentary Functional Medicine questionnaire and evaluation to discover if you  have medical conditions that can be treated before you need medication.   Acupuncture and Functional Medicine is a great combination for disease prevention.

*Functional Medicine looks to find the root cause or mechanism involved with any loss of function, and reveals why a set of symptoms is there in the first place, or why the patient has a particular disease label.
